How we do it
Sneakers: cleaned, whitened, deodorised
Uppers are cleaned by material rather than by one blunt method — mesh, knit, canvas and leather each behave differently in water. Midsoles and outsoles are whitened separately, the insole is treated for odour at the source rather than perfumed over, and laces are washed or replaced.
Leather and suede are handled by hand
Leather is cleaned and then re-conditioned with balm, because cleaning alone leaves it dry and that is what cracks it. Suede and nubuck are brushed and re-napped dry — never soaked. Scuffed or faded leather can be recoloured where the finish has genuinely worn through.
Formal shoes get the full treatment
Cream polish, edge dressing and a proper buff — the parts most people skip. Shoes that are structurally tired are flagged back to you rather than quietly returned looking the same.
Asked and answered
How long does shoe cleaning take?
Usually three to four days, because drying properly cannot be rushed without damaging the shoe. We tell you the return date at pickup.
Can you clean white sneaker soles that have yellowed?
Yellowing is oxidation in the rubber rather than dirt sitting on it, so it is treated separately from the upper. Most of it comes back; badly oxidised soles improve rather than reset, and we say so up front.
Will cleaning damage suede?
Not when it is done dry. Suede is brushed and re-napped rather than washed — soaking suede is exactly what ruins it, which is why it never goes near water here.
Do you collect shoes from home?
Yes, on the same free doorstep pickup as everything else. Shoes can go on the same ticket as your clothes.
